What's in the drink, chase the Devil away
Magic I think so I just say Chesay
Chesay, Chesay bring you good luck night and day ... Elvis Presley, Chesay from Frankie and Johnny(1965)
Well, it might not be magic, but, according to Nancy Clark, the renowned sports dietician, there are some foods that can help an athlete recover more quickly from injury. Let's take a look at what Nancy prescribes:
"Good" carbohydrates, including fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
Protein to help repair damaged tissues. Include 20-30 grams at every meal. This could be from 3 whole eggs, 1 cup of cottage cheese or 1-1/4 cup of hummus.
Healthy fats and oils including Omega-3, canola, nut butters, and avocado.
Antioxidants/anti-inflammatories such as blueberries, strawberries, carrots, broccoli, and pineapple. Turmeric, cocoa, pomegranate juice, tart apple juice, and green tea are recommended as well.
Iron to help with tissue repair.
Athletes should be consuming these foods regularly anyway, but should add more to their diet while recovering from injury, the real "devil" that possesses us all at one time or another.
CHESAY!
