For all of my power athletes( and most of my clients in general), I never recommend long, slow-distance running (LSD.) Why? Lots of reasons, including repetitive strain injuries and the fact that LSD
does nothing for improving speed and explosiveness.
In the recent ESPN The Magazine, Olympic hurdler David Oliver concurs thusly:
" In the spring, it's time to be fast ... I don't jog because it builds slow-muscle fiber..."
That doesn't sound good, does it?
