True Lies

Let's be honest: when most people say that they "can't afford" a personal trainer, they're not telling the truth. It's really a matter of priorities. Let's take a closer look at what people spend their money on:

If you get a mani-pedi once per month, that could cost you $1200-2400 per year! A facial? $480-900 annually.

How about that fancy coffee, latte, or cappuccino you splurge on every day? You could save $375-875 every year by making a cup of Folger's at home instead. Your home brew would cost less than 20 cents per cup!

A monthly massage could be costing you $600-2400 every year. A good trainer will teach you how to foam roll so you can go less often.

Do you go to the movies 8 times a year? If you go alone, that's $20-27 per visit for the ticket, a drink and a popcorn.

Spray tan? $35 per visit. Get waxed? How about $65 for a Brazilian, $70 for a full leg, $15+ for armpits, $15+ for lip. That adds up fast. Invest in a shaver and you can do much of the work yourself.

The average American eats out 4.2 times per week. At $15 to $40 per check, that's $3000-8000 per year. Brown bagging and cooking at home an additional night can really rack up the savings.

Ladies, how much do you spend on makeup? $100 per month is a not unrealistic number. Now, really, why would you spend so much on cosmetics when your insides are probably in such bad shape? Not to mention your love handles, saddlebags, and inability to perform just one push-up.

Do you smoke a pack per day? $1250-2750 per year, depending on where you live. A bottle of wine twice per week with dinner? Even a cheap $10 bottle will cost you $1000 a year. So, be truthful: you can afford a personal trainer, you just have other priorities. In this new year, maybe you should reconsider them.
