Mr. miyagi was right about a lot of things, but one of his pieces of advice, about balance is particularly applicable to fitness. And some particularly good strength and balance exercises can be performed with furniture sliders and tour own bodyweight.
For about $10-15 you can get a set of large furniture sliders , which should measure 7"X5" or so, to use for a great variety of challenging exercises. You need hardwood or tile floors at home, or a sideboard. You can buy one for a bunch of money or build your own out of melamine board, which you can buy at Home Depot.
Here's a short list of exercises you can perform with the sliders: Pike with neutral spine(right), body saw, Push-up plank walkout, mountain climber, cross-body mountain climber, skater, traveling push up plank, chest fly, reverse crunch with neutral spine, spiderman push ups, reverse lunge variations, leg curl, 1-leg curl, and fallout from knees.

Daniel: When do I learn how to punch?
Miyagi: Better learn balance. Balance is key. Balance good, karate good. Balance bad, better pack up, go home.
