Cold Ethyl. Nurse Rosetta, and Millie & Billie

They might be friends of Alice Cooper's, but NSAIDs aren't. Why? He knows how bad they can be for you ( a little elaboration on that later.) What matters is- do you know how bad they are for you? Let's take a brief look: First, there is the possibility of damage to the upper GI tract. And it increases as you get older. In the '90s, about 32,000 people were hospitalized annually with issues- and 3200 died. Yikes.

In addition, NSAIDs ( aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.) increase the risk of cardiac disease, may contribute to slow bone healing, and may lead to acute kidney failure. For athletes trying to optimize performance, NSAIDs may be dangerous.

NSAIDs can adversely affect the kidney function of endurance athletes, may delay tissue repair in bones, ligaments, and muscle or tendon injuries, and can suppress protein synthesis after eccentric exercise. So, if you must use NSAIDs, use the minimal effective dose for as short a time as possible. After all, as Alice Cooper says:

"Aspirin damage, aspirin damage- Kills the pain, destroys the brain" from ASPIRIN DAMAGE
