Try the triple threat: Manipulate your glycogen. Master your hormones. Make fat your energy source.
The prescription from an online "fat loss guru" ( whose name now escapes me) is to go for 3 days on a low-carb ( less than 50gm) regimen. No fruit, no starches. This drains the glycogen tank. Manipulate.
Master your hormones. Leptin is the hormone that determines whether you burn or store fat. After 1 week of low-carb eating, leptin levels decrease. You then add in 1 cheat day with healthy carbs.
Then, if you are resistance training(RT) 2-3 times per week ( and you should be), then you will add in more carbs timed around your RT.
Make fat your energy source. Eat carbs first thing in the morning, 3-4 hours pre-workout (RT), and post-workout. The post-workout carb
infusion should be the largest servings of the week.
