He Didn't Get Out of the COCKADOODIE CAR!

Ah, Misery, I am your number one fan.  No, not that Misery!
The misery of delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS) that appears  most strongly between 24 and 72 hours after exercise. ( Yeah, I'm weird-so?)

You know, DOMS, the affliction that makes women wish they could urinate standing up? The one where you plop to sit and standing up again is excruciating? Where you can't lift your arms over your head to wash your hair?

DOMS is the pain, stiffness, tenderness, and slight swelling that results after exercise, and, especially,
eccentric exercise. Eccentric exercise is often termed "lengthening exercise" ( for example, the motion of the dumbbell curl as it moves back toward gravity).

Reduced strength, limited range-of-motion, and slight swelling may also occur in the afflicted muscles.
( severe swelling, pain, and blood in the urine could mean you are suffering from rhabdomyolysis, a potential life-threatening situation. Seek medical attention IMMEDIATELY! )*

The exact causes of DOMS are not fully understood, and despite common "remedies" ( such as ice immersion, massage, stretching, and so forth) there is little that has been proven to help- except the passage of time. There is some evidence that additional protein and/or calcium supplementation can help with symptoms, and that gentle movement is preferable to stasis, but nothing definitive.

Grin and bear it; it'll be gone in a few days.

Annie Wilkes: " He didn't get out of the COCKADOODIE CAR!"

" ... you just better start showing me some appreciation around here, MISTER MAN!"

" I put two bullets in my gun. One for me and one for you. Oh darling, it will be so beautiful."

Paul Sheldon: " eat it 'til ya choke, you sick, twisted @#!%!"

* If you get rhabdo you're probably doing that stupid, dangerous crossfit garbage. stop being a sheep -really.
