City of the Big Shoulders

Many overhead athletes, such as baseball pitchers, swimmers, volleyball players, and weightlifters suffer from chronic shoulder impingement pain and loss of range-of-motion(ROM.)

According to Dr. Mitch Mally, much of this pain and reduced ROM can be eliminated with scapular corrections rather than invasive surgery.

Short and tight pec minor muscles, improper scapular orientation, thoracic kyphosis, and altered scapular kinematics can cause "shoulder" issues. Indeed, even upper back and cervical pain can stem from poor scapular function.

Build the rotator cuff muscles, the lats, and, especially, the rhomboids to help with scapular dysfunction.

Shoulder retraction exercises and low, mid, and high rowing exercises will all help.

Have a fitness professional evaluate your scapular function and help with appropriate exercise prescription. No need to "shoulder" the burden all by yourself.
