First, congratulations to the Baltimore Ravens, the first team to overcome a 30-minute power outage in order to win a Super Bowl.
While I was foam-rolling during the outage(yes, really) I was distressed to see some of the Ravens players static stretching rather than performing dynamic stretching in order to stay loose and ready to play.
We've known for years that static stretching(stretch and hold) degrades performance, especially in power athletes, like football players.
Where is their S&C coach? And did you notice how poorly they performed after this 30 minute break?
Hmmm... let's engage in pre-event static stretching...NEVERMORE!
And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted - nevermore! ( The Raven, Edgar Allen Poe)
